What's on

Arthurlie Church has occupied a position in the centre of the town since 1793, when it was founded by a group who had originally come from the Pollokshaws area of Glasgow. After some time holding services in the open air, they built a church on Main Street, close to where the Health Centre now stands. That church was demolished in 1967 to allow a new road and Health Centre to be built. (Interestingly, there are now plans to demolish the 30-odd year old Health Centre and rebuilding on a new site has started!)

The current building occupies the site of old houses and a bacon factory, and has been in use since 1967.

Travelling along Barrhead Main Street from Glasgow, the church is on the left side of the road and is easily identified by its large red brick tower.
